Lyrics
Drizzle filled
Nights like these
Made for desperate poetry
Moon hangs high
As I reach
She embraces me
Restlessness
I can’t sleep
My mind is unreeling
Voices soft
Dulcet tone
I can’t shake this feeling
Dark creeps in
Heartbeats make a deafening din
I hammer out these chords
As I wail my soul drips forth
Buried in these words
The tell tale sign of an inner war
Autumn leaves
Hang from the tree
Swaying in the breeze
Heard her voice
Cross the sea
I picture her with ease
Canvas of emptiness
My cold white ceiling
What once was said
Brought disbelief
But baby, I believe it
Dark creeps in
Heartbeats make a deafening din
I hammer out these chords
As I wail my soul drips forth
Buried in these words
The tell tale sign of an inner war
Empty words carry little weight now
Empty words carry little weight now

I told my part, torn apart
Better days are yet to come

I told my part, I broke her heart
Pray for nights like these
I hammer out these chords
As I wail my soul drips forth
Buried in these words
The tell tale sign of an inner war
I hammer out these chords
As I wail my soul drips forth
Buried in these words
The tell tale sign of an inner war

(Drizzle filled nights like these
Caught in this torrential downpour
Drizzle filled nights like these
Caught in this torrential downpour)
Drizzle Daze was written in the haze of a rainy night.

It's evolved over the years into the song that it is today and It still remains a super fun song to play. I hope that you enjoy listening to it just as much as I did recording it.
I wrote the lyrics in this sleepless, restlessness moment in the quiet of the evening. You could just hear the pitter-patter of raindrops, the quiet voices of neighbours or people on the street outside and the sound of my own heartbeat in the dimly lit room. I wanted to capture the imaginings that happen as you lie there in a waking moment, staring at a blank white ceiling.
The chorus and song itself starts from the idea of writing a song. It literally describes that process; getting chords together and wailing along.
I wanted to give you an idea of my song-writing process and describe the moments of wrestling with emotions, melodies, concepts and ideas to form a whole song.
